Smoked Pimento Cheese Recipe with Farm-Fresh Flavor

Smoked Pimento Cheese Recipe with Farm-Fresh Flavor

Oct 13, 2025

We love cheese recipes that are simple, a little nostalgic, and easy to share around the table. That’s exactly why this smoked pimento cheese recipe has earned a regular spot in our kitchen.

It’s creamy, smoky, and just the right kind of spicy. Best of all, it features our Der Smoked Alpen Cheese, which brings a woodsy depth that takes this Southern favorite from familiar to unforgettable.

This recipe is perfect for game days, garden parties, or just spreading on fresh bread for a quiet afternoon snack.

How to Make Smoked Pimento Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups Goot Essa Der Smoked Alpen Cheese, shredded

  • ½ cup Goot Essa Mountain Valley Sharp Cheddar, shredded

  • ⅓ cup cream cheese, softened

  • ⅓ cup good quality mayonnaise

  • 1 small jar (about 4 oz) diced pimentos, drained

  • 1 clove garlic, finely grated

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

  • Salt and cracked black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth and fluffy. A wooden spoon works best.

  2. Fold in the Der Smoked Alpen Cheese and Mountain Valley Sharp Cheddar.

  3. Add the pimentos, garlic, smoked paprika, and cayenne. Mix well.

  4. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as needed.

  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour. The flavor deepens the longer it sits.

This spread is ready to shine, however you serve it. Try it with crackers, celery sticks, or slathered on a warm biscuit. We’ve even been known to dollop it onto a burger now and then.

What Makes This Version Different?

There’s no shortage of cheese recipes out there, but our smoked pimento cheese stands out because of the cheese.

Our Der Smoked Alpen Cheese is slow-smoked over hardwood and aged in our caves for just the right balance of nuttiness and melt-in-your-mouth creaminess. That natural smokiness means you don’t have to add much else to impress.

Made with Care, Shared with Pride

Good cheese doesn’t happen by accident. It takes patience, fresh milk, and a whole lot of heart.

Around here, we still do things the slow way, starting with cows we raise ourselves and milk we know is worth trusting. That’s what gives our Der Smoked Alpen Cheese its deep, smoky flavor and rich, creamy texture.

If you’re looking for cheese that brings real flavor to your table, we invite you to try Goot Essa. Whether you're cooking up something special or simply spreading a little on crackers, our small-batch cheeses are made to be shared and savored.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this as a hot dip instead of a cold spread?

You sure can. Just spoon it into a small baking dish and warm it in the oven at 350°F for about 10–15 minutes. It gets extra melty and bubbly.

What’s the best way to grate the cheese for this recipe?

We like to use the large holes on a box grater. It gives the pimento cheese a nice texture that holds up on sandwiches and crackers.

Can I freeze the leftovers?

We don’t recommend freezing this one. The texture can get a bit grainy once thawed. It’s best enjoyed fresh or stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Does it work in sandwiches?

Absolutely. It’s great on toast, in grilled cheese, or even spread into a wrap with sliced turkey or ham.

What drinks pair well with this?

Sweet tea and lemonade work nicely, or for something a little heartier, try it with a crisp apple cider or a light beer.
