We are thrilled to announce that Goot Essa has been honored with a prestigious award at the 2023 American Cheese Society (ACS) competition. Our gourmet Emanuel Vom Tal Kase was awarded 3rd place in the “Soft-Ripened Cheeses” category. This recognition is a testament to our artisanal cheesemaking expertise, and reflects our rich Pennsylvania Dutch cheesemaking heritage.
ACS is the leading organization supporting the understanding, appreciation, and promotion of artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheeses produced in the Americas. Their annual competition is significant in the cheese industry; this year, the ACS received over 2,000 entries from cheese producers nationwide, including the first-ever submissions from Goot Essa.
Our Emanuel Vom Tal Kase is a gourmet, pasteurized sheep milk bloomy rind cheese. Handcrafted using a traditional German-Swiss recipe, it boasts a creamy center surrounded by a semi-soft bloomy rind. Its flavor profile leans towards salted cream with hints of grass in both taste and aroma, making it a favorite among cheese enthusiasts. Aged for 60 days and wrapped in cheese paper, it provides a perfect addition to any cheese board or charcuterie.
At Goot Essa, we realize that our achievements are dependent upon the support of our loyal customers and dedicated employees. Without it, we could not have achieved this recognition. We extend our special thanks to the local Amish farmer in the lower Nittany Valley, whose pasture-fed sheep supplied the rich milk that served as the foundation of our award-winning cheese.
As we celebrate this achievement, we are reminded of our mission to help keep families on the farm by producing high-quality cheeses that resonate with the tastes and traditions of our community. We look forward to continuing our journey of cheesemaking excellence and sharing our passion with all of you.
